Take your phone or other smart device connected to your Wi-Fi outside and measure the signal strength. You’ll need at least one bar of service for your smart opener to function. If you don’t have Wi-Fi service in your garage, you can get a Wi-Fi extender or move your router closer to your garage.

It’s also important to make sure your garage door is compatible with the opener. With you’ve finished installing the app and setting up your account, you can select the “add device” option from within the app. From the list of devices, choose the myQ Smart Garage Hub.

Connect Your myQ Hub to Your Phone

To connect your device to the myQ hub, plug the hub into an outlet. This step is temporary, so don’t worry that this isn’t the ultimate location you want for your hub. Look for a blinking blue light on the hub’s front. iPhones let you scan for the device or enter the device serial number manually. Android users can discover the device automatically. Its name will probably appear as MyQ followed by a number on your phone.

Next, input your Wi-Fi information by finding your network and entering your password. If you’ve completed this step successfully, the blinking blue light on the hub will change to a solid green light, showing it’s connected to your network successfully.

Pair Your Hub With Your Garage Door Sensor

Pull the tab from your home to activate its batteries, then press the lower half of the circle on the hub until you see a red light. When the red light flashes in the middle of the circle, that means the device has found your garage door sensor. Press the circle again and wait for a beep to complete the pairing process.
